Hey!
My sister is involved in Sustainable Food at NYU. Along with a friend, she's leading a bunch of trips to farms and rubbish dumps in and around NYC. If you're interested, check out their blog:

The trips are free or highly subsidized and would be a good way to become acquainted with sustainable food sites in NYC. The first trip is this Saturday.
