Plans for a demonstration roof garden on campus level (for higher visibility...pun intended) have been submitted to CU Facilities and await approval. The RooFood garden will simulate a feasible raised-bed garden, transposable to any suitable rooftop space! Aesthetic plans for the space are in the works, but the goal is to illustrate a miniature city skyline with lush vegetable roof gardens.
This past Sunday, with the help of Adi, Jackson, Mike, and Farra, 13 SmartPots FILLED with compost and GaiaSoil (lightweight pots and planting medium designed specifically for rooftop agriculture) were rescued from PS1's farm, deinstalled in recent weeks!!
The project has come so far, but there is still so much to be done. Please contact me, Abi Cohen, for information on how you can help out with this revolution in urban food production.
