Rainforest Alliance Annual Photo Contest!
The Rainforest Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving biodiversity and ensuring sustainable livelihoods. Their strategy is to provide people with the means to extract a sustainable livelihood from the land, give businesses the opportunity to source responsibly produced goods, and make these goods and services available and affordable to consumers. They are collaborating with farmers, workers, business leaders, NGO's, governments, scientists and local communities in more than 60 countries around the world to develop and implement standards that are socially and environmentally responsible, as well as economically viable.
June of this year, they launched their second annual photo contest, scheduled to run until November 1st, 2009. The photos that they receive play an enormous role in communicating their message of conservation, and the contest is a great way to promote talented photographers.
Photos may be submitted in the categories of Nature and Lanscape, Wildlife, Conservation in Action, and Sustainable Tourism. Winners will receive an eco-trip for two to Costa Rica, or a Fujifilm Finepix S100 FS 1.1 megapixel digital camera!
